Nuapada Mourns the Loss of Veteran MLA Rajendra Dholakia

Nuapada, — In a sombre turn of events, senior BJD leader and sitting MLA of Nuapada, Rajendra Dholakia, passed away on Monday while undergoing a heart transplant at MGM Hospital in Chennai. He was 68.

Dholakia had been a towering figure in Odisha’s political landscape, known for his tireless advocacy for tribal welfare and rural development. Elected multiple times from the Nuapada constituency, he earned widespread admiration for his accessibility and unwavering commitment to public service.

His death has sent ripples across the state, with leaders from across the political spectrum expressing heartfelt condolences. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik described him as “a pillar of strength for Nuapada and a tireless advocate for the marginalised,” adding that his legacy would endure for generations.

Arrangements are underway to bring his body back to Odisha for the final rites. A state-level condolence meeting is expected to be held in Bhubaneswar to honour his contributions.

Dholakia’s passing marks the end of an era for western Odisha, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, integrity, and grassroots leadership.
