Nuapada Bypoll 2025: 14 Candidates Confirmed, 5 Nominations Rejected

Nuapada, Odisha — The nomination scrutiny for the upcoming Nuapada Assembly by-election concluded today, confirming 14 candidates as valid contenders for the 2025 electoral battle.

Out of 19 nominations submitted, five were rejected following a detailed verification process conducted by the Returning Officer and Sub-Collector.

Among the rejected were Rajaram Sahu (Bahujan Samaj Party), Sitaram Behera (Rashtriya Parivartan Dal), and three independent candidates — Purushottam Behera, Kamal Kumar Chhatria, and Bhujabal Adabanga.

The final list features a competitive mix of candidates from major political parties and independents. BJP’s Jay Dholakia, BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria, and Congress’s Ghasiram Majhi have successfully cleared scrutiny.

Other confirmed candidates include Ramakant Hati (Samajwadi Party), Hemant Tandi (Bahujan Mukti Party), and Shukadhar Dandasena (Odisha Janata Dal). Additionally, eight independent candidates will contest the seat.

Election General Observer Prakash Bindu and Returning Officer Surmi Soren oversaw the scrutiny process, ensuring transparency and adherence to electoral norms.

With nominations finalised, the focus now shifts to campaigning and public engagement. The Nuapada Bypoll promises to be a closely watched contest in Odisha’s political landscape.
