Nuapada Bye-Election: Odisha CEO Calls for Active Role in Voter Roll Revision
Bhubaneswar, Sept 15 — In a decisive move to ensure electoral integrity, Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), R.S. Gopalan, IAS, convened a high-level meeting with representatives of all recognised political parties at his office in Bhubaneswar.
The meeting focused on the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the electoral roll for the upcoming bye-election in the 71-Nuapada Assembly Constituency.
With July 1, 2025, marked as the qualifying date by the Election Commission of India, Gopalan emphasised the critical role of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in refining and validating voter data. “Active participation of political parties through their Booth Level Agents is vital to making the electoral roll comprehensive and accurate,” he stated.
Soft copies of the draft electoral roll were distributed to party representatives, enabling them to review and suggest corrections. The initiative aims to eliminate discrepancies, ensure inclusivity, and uphold transparency in the electoral process.
This SSR exercise is a cornerstone in Odisha’s democratic framework, reinforcing the state’s commitment to fair elections and accurate voter representation in Nuapada.
