North and South Odisha development councils to be formed soon for tribal upliftment: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, July 24 (UNI) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced the formation of two regional development councils—North Odisha Vikas Parishad and South Odisha Vikas Parishad—aimed at the holistic development of tribal areas in the state.

Majhi made the announcement during a meeting with members of the Odisha Adivasi Mahasangh, who met him to discuss various issues concerning the tribal population and their collective development.

The Chief Minister said that the overall development of tribal communities is a top priority for the state government.

He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced several welfare schemes focused on tribals, and the state government is also taking significant steps in areas such as education and livelihood.

Majhi urged the Adivasi Mahasangh to work towards eliminating social prejudices within tribal communities and stressed that all challenges can be addressed through dialogue and cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Minister Nityananda Gond, Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi, Adivasi Mahasangh President Karma Lakra, General Secretary Sarat Chandra Nayak, and representatives from around 11 districts.
