Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), Sept 21: Nine migrant workers were rescued by police in Turekela, Balangir district, Odisha, on Saturday while they were being trafficked to Hyderabad. A team from the Turekela police station acted on a tip-off and intercepted the traffickers at the railway station, successfully rescuing the workers.
The migrants, who came from various villages in the Turekela block, had been lured with false promises of employment opportunities. During the operation, authorities detained a suspected middleman involved in the trafficking scheme.
Initial investigations revealed that the middleman was responsible for facilitating the workers’ journey to Hyderabad. He is currently being interrogated to uncover further details about the trafficking network. Police are committed to taking necessary action against those involved in this illegal activity.
