Nilagiri Cow Smuggling Case: 100+ Cows Rescued, Two Arrested in Odisha
Nilagiri: In a dramatic crackdown on illegal cattle smuggling, police seized a container carrying more than 100 cows near Barakoili Chhak.
The vehicle, which was attempting to evade toll gates, was intercepted following a chase.
According to reports, the container originated from Bhadrak and was headed toward West Bengal. Two individuals involved in the smuggling operation were detained, while the escort Bolero vehicle managed to escape.
Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal attempted to stop the container before police intervention.
With the assistance of Ishwarpur outpost officer Bikash Bhoi, the vehicle was finally seized at Shyamsundarpur Chhak.
The rescued cattle were later handed over to Bamapada Gosala for safe shelter. Authorities are investigating further to dismantle the smuggling network.
