Newborn Baby Rescued in Bolangir, Probe Demanded

Bolangir: A newborn baby girl was rescued in Dharapgad village under Saintala police station limits after villagers heard her cries near local houses.

Alarmed residents immediately informed the Anganwadi worker, ASHA worker, and the village Sarpanch, who rushed to the spot.

Police officer Khagapati Biswal and CDPO Golapi Nayak quickly intervened, taking the infant to Saintala hospital for primary treatment.

Later, she was shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, where doctors confirmed she is healthy and stable.

The identity of the parents remains unknown, sparking outrage among locals. Many suspect the child may have been abandoned due to an illicit relationship.

Childline and Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members have stepped in to ensure the baby’s safety under government guidelines.

Community leaders, including farmers’ organisation head Satya Narayan Panda, have demanded an impartial probe and strict action against those responsible.

The incident has triggered widespread concern in Bolangir, highlighting the urgent need for accountability and stronger child protection measures.
