Naveen Patnaik Urges Stronger Fight Against Injustice Toward Women

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik met the newly appointed office-bearers of the Biju Mahila Janata Dal at Shankha Bhavan, urging them to intensify efforts against injustice and violence toward women.

Patnaik emphasised that women’s empowerment has been at the heart of the BJD’s 27-year journey, describing it as “true empowerment of Odisha.” He highlighted the success of Mission Shakti, which has transformed grassroots women’s groups into a model of financial independence and social strength.

Expressing concern over rising cases of injustice against women, Patnaik called on party workers to safeguard women’s rights, counter misinformation, and expand livelihood opportunities.

He urged the Mahila Dal leaders to strengthen their outreach and ensure that women’s voices remain central to Odisha’s development.

Biju Mahila Janata Dal president Snehangini Chhuria welcomed the gathering, while newly appointed leaders thanked Patnaik for his guidance and pledged to advance women-led initiatives across the state.
