Naveen Patnaik Slams Odisha Govt at BJD Chasi Samabesh, Accuses Ruling Party of Betraying Farmers

Bhubaneswar: BJD president Naveen Patnaik launched a scathing attack on the Odisha government during the party’s Chasi Samabesh, accusing it of betraying farmers despite lofty promises.

He alleged that the ruling party has failed to deliver on its electoral commitments even after two years in office.

Patnaik contrasted the current administration’s inaction with BJD’s record, citing initiatives like a separate farmers’ budget, the KALIA scheme, and irrigation support.

He highlighted pressing issues such as fertiliser shortages, incomplete paddy procurement, and delayed payments.

Proposing corrective measures, Patnaik urged the government to deploy special squads to curb exploitation, dismantle miller‑official nexuses, remove subsidy ceilings, ensure DBT payments within 48 hours, and complete paddy purchases within 72 hours.

He further accused the government of spending crores on publicity while ignoring farmers’ needs, warning that BJD will continue to fight for farmers’ rights.

Patnaik cautioned the ruling party to “wake up from its Kumbhakarna sleep,” stressing that governance requires action, not speeches.
