Naveen Patnaik condemns BJP MLA remarks

Naveen Patnaik Slams Odisha Government Over Rising Crimes Against Women

Former Odisha Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik has sharply criticised the BJP-led state government for its handling of law and order, particularly in cases of crimes against women.

Patnaik pointed to recent incidents in Angul, Sambalpur, and Paradip, where minors and differently-abled young women were subjected to sexual violence.

He argued that such repeated assaults have created an atmosphere of fear, leaving women and girls unsafe across the state.

In a strongly worded statement on X (formerly Twitter), Patnaik questioned whether the rule of law still prevails in Odisha.

He accused the government of delivering speeches on women’s safety without taking strict, exemplary action, which he said emboldens criminals.

Calling for urgent measures, Patnaik urged the administration to spread awareness about women’s safety and enforce law and order effectively to restore public confidence.
