Naveen Patnaik Slams Nishikant Dubey Over Remarks on Biju Patnaik
Odisha former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has strongly condemned BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s controversial remarks linking former CM and freedom fighter Biju Patnaik to Jawaharlal Nehru, the CIA, and the 1962 India‑China war.
Calling the statements “outrageous,” Naveen suggested Dubey required medical attention and recalled his own childhood memories of Biju Patnaik’s role in resisting Chinese aggression.
The controversy erupted after Dubey alleged that Biju Patnaik acted as a “link” between Nehru and the US government, citing Charbatia airport.
His comments sparked widespread outrage in Odisha, with BJD leaders defending Biju Patnaik’s legacy.
Adding to the tension, Naveen expressed shock over an alleged attack on the Bhubaneswar residence of BJD MLA Manorama Mohanty, describing the incident as “undemocratic.” He noted that even a domestic worker was insulted during the police search linked to a case against Mohanty’s husband.
The fallout has seen BJD MPs staging a walkout in Rajya Sabha and Sasmit Patra resigning from a parliamentary committee chaired by Dubey.
The episode has intensified political friction, with Naveen Patnaik positioning himself as a defender of Biju Patnaik’s legacy and democratic values.
