Naveen Patnaik Condemns Attack on Ex-MLA, Slams Odisha Govt
Former Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik has strongly condemned the violent attack on the residence of former Dharmasala MLA Pranab Balabantaray. According to reports, miscreants stormed Balabantaray’s house, vandalized property, and assaulted party workers in broad daylight.
Patnaik criticized the police and the BJP-led state government for failing to act against the accused, warning that such inaction erodes public trust in governance. He accused the administration of fostering a culture of lawlessness and violence, stressing that Odisha’s peace-loving citizens will not tolerate such disorder.
Balabantaray alleged that supporters of sitting Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo were behind the attack. The violence left several injured, with four critically wounded individuals shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack and around 15 others receiving treatment locally. More than 15 vehicles were reportedly damaged, along with mobile phones and other property.
Patnaik demanded strict and immediate action against those responsible, urging the government to restore law and order and ensure justice for the victims.
