Naveen Patnaik Charts BJD’s Comeback Plan from Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the BJD’s electoral setback in 2024, party supremo Naveen Patnaik has turned his focus to Ganjam district, a traditional stronghold, to rebuild momentum ahead of the upcoming municipal and panchayat elections.

At a strategy meeting held at his residence, Patnaik urged district leaders to strengthen booth‑level mobilisation and reconnect with grassroots voters.

Farmers’ grievances, particularly harassment at local mandis, were highlighted as a priority issue to address.

The meeting saw participation from senior leaders, including Purnachandra Swain, Bhagaban Gantayat, Chandrasekhar Sahu, and Brahmapur Mayor Sanghamitra Dalei, alongside representatives from all 13 assembly segments of Ganjam.

Patnaik emphasised that reclaiming voter trust in Ganjam would be crucial for the BJD’s comeback bid against the BJP, which made significant inroads in the last assembly polls.

The party aims to consolidate its base and project a unified front as Odisha heads toward crucial local elections in 2026.
