National Lok Adalat to Settle Pending Cases Across Khordha District on March 14

The Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has announced that the first National Lok Adalat of 2026 will be held on March 14 across all judicial courts in the district, including Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Banpur, Chilika, Tangi, Jatani, and Begunia.

The Lok Adalat aims to provide a platform for amicable settlement of disputes through mutual consent, saving litigants both time and money.

A wide range of cases will be considered, including compoundable criminal matters, cheque bounce disputes, bank loan defaults, revenue cases, motor accident claims, labour disputes, utility bill arrears, matrimonial issues (except divorce), land acquisition matters, service-related claims, and civil suits.

One of the key benefits is that no court fee is required to participate. If a case is settled, any court fee already paid will be refunded.

Awards passed in the Lok Adalat are final, binding, and enforceable like a court decree.

The DLSA has appealed to citizens to contact their respective courts or the nearest Legal Services Authority in advance to list their cases for settlement.

This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the burden of pending cases while offering litigants a cost-free and speedy resolution.
