National Indoor Athletics Championship to Debut at Kalinga Stadium on March 24
Bhubaneswar is set to script history as the National Indoor Athletics Championship kicks off at Kalinga Stadium on March 24, 2026.
Organised by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) in collaboration with the Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department, this marks the first-ever indoor athletics competition in India.
The championship will feature 36 events across men’s, women’s, and under-20 categories, including sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, pole vault, heptathlon, high jump, long jump, triple jump, and shot put.
AFI President Bahadur Singh Sagoo confirmed that the event will be integrated into the 2026 domestic athletics season, strengthening India’s athletics ecosystem.
With world-class infrastructure at Kalinga Stadium—the country’s first indoor athletics centre—Odisha is positioning itself as a future host for international competitions, including the Asian Indoor Athletics Championship in 2028.
