National Energy Conservation Day 2025: Odisha Leads with Smart Energy Initiatives and Student Participation

Bhubaneswar witnessed a grand celebration of National Energy Conservation Day 2025 at Lok Seva Bhawan, led by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

The day began with an awareness rally from Kalinga Stadium, involving students, teachers, and officials, underscoring the importance of energy conservation as a national duty.

In his address, Singh Deo emphasised the need for household earthing and the adoption of smart meters to reduce energy losses.

He reiterated Odisha’s commitment to climate resilience and sustainable development, aligning with national missions.

Principal Secretary of Energy Vishal Kumar Dev highlighted policies such as pump storage and floating solar projects to strengthen renewable energy capacity.

Other dignitaries, including Dr K. Murugesan and A.K. Tripathy, stressed innovative thinking among students and the importance of grid stability in renewable expansion.

The event also honoured winners of the Odisha State Energy Conservation Awards (OSECA) across industries and educational institutions.

A state‑level quiz competition saw participation from over 250,000 students, with top performers receiving cash prizes and certificates.

Concluding the ceremony, speakers echoed the message: “Energy saved is energy generated.” The event showcased Odisha’s proactive steps toward a greener, more sustainable future.
