Nandankanan Zoo to Receive 19 New Animals from Gujarat by December 10

Bhubaneswar, Nov 29: Nandankanan Zoological Park is set to welcome 19 new animals from Gujarat’s Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Zoological Garden in Surat ahead of the tourist season.

The exchange, approved by the Central Zoo Authority, will see the arrival of animals belonging to four species by December 10.

A dedicated team from Nandankanan Zoo will travel to Gujarat to bring back the new arrivals, ensuring their safe relocation. In return, Nandankanan will send 14 animals of five species to Surat, strengthening inter-zoo collaboration and enriching biodiversity.

Zoo officials believe the exchange will enhance the visitor experience during the peak tourist season and contribute to conservation efforts by diversifying the animal population.

The initiative highlights the importance of cooperation among Indian zoological parks in promoting wildlife preservation and education.
