NALSAR Hyderabad wins 1st KIIT International Moot Court Competition 2025

Bhubaneswar, Sept 15 (UNI) NALSAR, Hyderabad, lifted the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs 2,00,000 at the 1st KIIT International Moot Court Competition (KIMCC) 2025.
Sastra Deemed University emerged as the first runner up, winning Rs 1,00,000, while Manipal Law School secured the second runner up position with Rs 75,000.
In the individual categories, Himanshu Srivastav of Government Law College, Mumbai, was adjudged Best Speaker, and Md. Oysee Uzzaman from American International University, Bangladesh, won the Best Researcher award. Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, bagged the Best Memorial award. Each carried a cash prize of Rs 30,000.
Delivering the valedictory address, Justice V. Gopala Gowda, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Former Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, said participation in moot courts is a great opportunity for law students to hone their skills and become competent lawyers.
Emphasising the need for a strong legal system, he observed, “A strong bar will produce strong and independent judges. Despite criticisms, the Indian judiciary is one of the greatest judiciaries today, and we must be proud of it.”
Ashish Ahuja, Managing Partner of Wadia Gandhy, noted that moot court competitions help students grasp the nuances of drafting, interpreting the law, and understanding their interplay.
The international competition which concluded yesterday saw participation from 54 teams, including 16 National Law Universities, 11 Government Law Colleges, 24 private law colleges, and two international institutions. After intense preliminary and knockout rounds, the top teams advanced to the finals, showcasing rigorous preparation and spirited advocacy.
