Nagar Kirtan Brings Devotion and Unity Ahead of Guru Nanak’s Birth Anniversary in Barbil

Barbil town witnessed a vibrant and soulful Nagar Kirtan as Sikh devotees came together ahead of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism.

The procession, held on the eve of Kartik Purnima, was a spiritual celebration of the Guru’s teachings—Naam Japo (remember God), Kirt Karo (work honestly), and Wand Chakko (share with others).

Starting at 11 a.m. from Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, the Nagar Kirtan was led by the Panj Pyaras—the five beloveds of the Guru—followed by a large gathering of devotees singing hymns and praying for Sarbat Da Bhalla, the well-being of all.

The procession moved through key locations in Barbil, including a Langar break at Mahotsav Padia, a route through Old Cinema Hall Road and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, a tea refreshment stop at Punjabi Pada, and finally through Mahanta Basti and Prateek Hotel Lane before concluding at Gurdwara Sahib.

As part of the ongoing celebrations, the continuous recitation (Paath) of the holy Guru Granth Sahib is being held at the Gurdwara. It has been announced that on Kartik Purnima, after the completion of the Paath, Langar Prasad will be served to all devotees.

This sacred gathering reflects the spirit of harmony, service, and devotion that Guru Nanak Dev Ji inspired. Barbil’s Sikh community, joined by well-wishers from all walks of life, continues to uphold these values with deep faith and joy.
