Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), July 8: Police in Deogarh town, Odisha, have arrested a woman accused of killing her 14-year-old son on July 1. The victim, identified as Niku Sunain of Rajamunda Chhak Sahi, was allegedly murdered by his mother, Mili Sunain.
The investigation began following a complaint filed by the boy’s father, who accused his wife of the crime. According to police findings, Mili Sunain was involved in an extramarital affair with a man named Ranjan Nayak. Whenever Niku opposed her illicit relationship or attempted to disclose it, she allegedly subjected him to physical abuse.
“On the day of the incident, a heated argument ensued between the mother and son around 9 am, shortly after Mili returned home from dropping her daughter at school,” stated a police officer. “In a fit of rage, she reportedly strangled him to death using a saree.”
The arrest was made following these revelations and the formal charges against Mili Sunain.
