Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), June 25: A distressing incident unfolded in Nabara village, under Udala Police Station in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, where a mother reportedly poisoned herself and her 4-year-old son.
Both are now in critical condition, with the motive behind this tragic act yet to be determined. The woman, identified as Sabita Raut, wife of Alok Baghda, abruptly took her son inside their home and locked the doors.
She allegedly consumed poison herself and also administered it to her young son. Later, the child emerged from the house and vomited, while Alok was eating outside. Family members noticed a strange odor and suspected foul play upon discovering that both Sabita and her son had ingested poison.
They were rushed to Udala Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment in critical condition. The exact reasons prompting this drastic action remain unknown, whether stemming from a family dispute or other factors.
