Modern Auditing Practices Key to Good Governance: Odisha Governor Highlights Tech-Driven Future
Bhubaneswar, Nov 28 — Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati has underscored the pivotal role of modern auditing in strengthening transparency and accountability in governance.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 5th Audit Week at Jaydev Bhawan, the Governor emphasised that auditing must evolve into an analytical, technology-driven, and forward-looking discipline.
He highlighted that auditors today go beyond verifying accounts, standing at the intersection of governance, technology, and public expectations.
With the proliferation of digital platforms and expansive government programs, risk evaluation, control improvements, and data-informed decision-making are now indispensable.
Reflecting on India’s 150-year-old auditing institutions, Dr Kambhampati noted their enduring role in ensuring the responsible use of public resources.
He praised Odisha’s adoption of technology-based systems, citing initiatives like SAMADHAN for empathetic grievance redressal and the Accountant General’s embrace of digital audit tools and analytics.
Looking ahead, the Governor stressed that innovation, collaboration, and professional excellence — including artificial intelligence and advanced analytics — will define the future of auditing.
He called for a proactive, integrated, and advisory audit framework to bolster institutional credibility and public trust.
The event concluded with addresses by Principal Accountant Generals D. Sahu and Subu R., marking a strong commitment to audit reforms in Odisha.
