MKCG Medical College Ragging Allegations: NMC Probes Hostel Harassment Complaint
Berhampur, Odisha — MKCG Medical College has once again found itself at the centre of controversy following disturbing allegations of ragging and harassment within its hostel premises.
A second-year MBBS student has lodged a formal complaint accusing a group of senior students of mental and physical abuse.
According to the complaint, the victim was repeatedly forced to attend “general body meetings” organised by seniors, where juniors were allegedly made to stand for hours and subjected to squatting punishments for non-compliance.
The situation escalated on August 18, when the student reported severe harassment.
A day later, after refusing to attend another meeting, a group of seniors allegedly stormed into the hostel, hurled verbal abuses, and issued threats.
The complaint further alleges that six to seven seniors routinely consume alcohol, play loud DJ music, and dance inside the hostel, disrupting the academic environment.
The matter has been escalated to the National Medical Commission (NMC), which has forwarded a letter to the Dean of MKCG Medical College.
The college’s Anti-Ragging Cell is expected to convene soon to investigate the allegations and recommend disciplinary action.
This incident has reignited concerns over student safety and institutional accountability in medical colleges across India.
