Mithun Manhas Elected BCCI President
In a landmark development for Indian cricket, Mithun Manhas has been elected President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during its Annual General Meeting held in Mumbai.
Hailing from Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir’s erstwhile Doda district, Manhas becomes the first individual from the region to ascend to the top post in Indian cricket administration.
A domestic cricket stalwart, Manhas boasts over 15,000 runs in first-class and List A cricket, bringing both experience and regional representation to the role. He succeeds Roger Binny, whose tenure saw India clinch the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025—cementing his legacy as a transformative leader.
The newly elected BCCI leadership includes:
- Vice-President: Rajeev Shukla (retained)
- Secretary: Devajit Saikia
- Joint Secretary: Prabhtej Singh Bhatia
- Treasurer: Raghuram Bhat
- IPL Chairman: Arun Thakur (or Dhumal, as per some reports)
- Apex Council Member: Jaydev Shah
- Governing Council Members: M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar and others
In a parallel move to bolster talent scouting, former Indian cricketers RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha have been appointed as Team India selectors. Their inclusion signals a renewed focus on grassroots development and strategic team building.
The announcement coincides with India’s Asia Cup final clash against Pakistan, adding momentum to the cricketing narrative.
As Manhas takes charge, stakeholders are watching closely to see how he balances sporting excellence with commercial expansion and governance reform.
