Balangir, Odisha — The body of Sourabh Sambit Tripathy, a 24-year-old mountaineering enthusiast from Mahalaxminagar, was discovered in a power canal near the Chipilima Hydro Electric Project on Saturday morning, three days after he went missing from VIMSAR, Burla.

His family filed a missing complaint at Burla police station, prompting a search operation by police and fire services.

After hours of combing the canal area, authorities recovered his body near the hydro project. While suicide is suspected, officials await further investigation to confirm the cause of death.

Sourabh was known for his passion for adventure sports and had shown promise as a budding mountaineer. His sudden death has left the local community in shock, with friends and family mourning the loss of a devoted son and spirited climber.

The incident has reignited conversations around mental health support for caregivers. Authorities have urged hospitals to provide counseling services for attendants dealing with emotional stress, emphasising the need for institutional support systems.
