Missing Newborn Sparks Outrage at Malkangiri Hospital

Malkangiri, A harrowing incident has surfaced from Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital, where a family from Komarpalli village alleges their newborn daughter vanished under suspicious circumstances.

The mother, Adme Padiami, was admitted on July 18, 2025, and gave birth to a baby girl. According to her mother-in-law, female health workers took the crying infant for treatment but never returned her.

The hospital later informed the family that the baby had died, yet refused to hand over the body. The father, Lachu Kabasi, claims he was threatened and discharged when he demanded answers.

Traumatised and fearful, the family remained silent for two months before filing a formal complaint with the District Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brajabandhu Das.

Dr. Das has acknowledged the seriousness of the case and assured a thorough investigation. The incident has sparked public concern over hospital accountability and the treatment of economically disadvantaged families.

As the investigation unfolds, the family continues to plead for justice and transparency, raising urgent questions about medical ethics and systemic failures in public healthcare.
