Minor Stabbed Near Baripada Station During Jagaddhatri Mela Visit

Baripada, Nov 8: A shocking incident unfolded near Bhanjapur railway station late last night when a minor boy was stabbed during a visit to the Jagaddhatri Mela.

The victim, identified as Akash Nayak (aged 16–17) from Budhamara village, had come to enjoy the festivities when a dispute with local youths escalated into violence.

According to eyewitnesses, the altercation began during the mela and intensified near the station when Akash stepped away to relieve himself. In the dimly lit area outside the station, a group of local youths allegedly attacked him, stabbing him with a knife.

GRP police, deployed to manage the mela crowd, swiftly responded to the scene. They rescued the bleeding minor and admitted him to Baripada Medical. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.

Police have registered a case at the Baripada GRP station and launched an investigation. The incident has sparked concern among locals, especially as the mela continues to draw thousands of visitors daily. Authorities are urging increased vigilance to prevent further disturbances.
