Minor Girl Rescued from Madhya Pradesh After Alleged Trafficking and Illegal Marriage

(OT Webdesk)In a swift and coordinated operation, Odisha’s Jajpur police rescued a minor girl who had allegedly been trafficked and sold to a man in Madhya Pradesh.

The accused reportedly married the girl illegally after purchasing her through a local trafficking network.

The incident came to light after a complaint was lodged at the Kalia Pani police station, prompting authorities to act.

A five-member police team was dispatched to Madhya Pradesh, where they successfully located and rescued the girl. The accused youth was also apprehended and brought back to Odisha.

Medical examinations of both the victim and the accused were conducted at Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital.

The case, registered on August 12, revealed that two women from Jajpur had allegedly orchestrated the trafficking, selling the college-going minor to a man in Sagar town, Madhya Pradesh.

Jajpur SP Yash Pratap Srimal directed the rescue mission, which concluded with the safe return of the girl and the detention of the accused. Legal proceedings are underway, and the accused is expected to be produced in court.

This case underscores the urgent need for vigilance against child trafficking and illegal marriage practices, especially in vulnerable communities.
