Minister Confirms Timely Completion of Lingaraj Temple Redevelopment

Bhubaneswar, Odisha: The ambitious Ekamra Kshetra Amenities and Monument Revival Action (Ekamra) project at the historic Lingaraj Temple is set to be completed by March 2027, according to Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan.

Originally conceptualised in 2019 by the BJD government, the project aims to transform Bhubaneswar’s Old Town heritage zone into a vibrant cultural hub.

The revised plan includes the installation of a grand statue of Lord Shiva, construction of an interpretation centre, and redevelopment of the sacred Bindu Sagar tank into a heritage lake.

The minister confirmed that the earlier executing agency has been disengaged after refusing to continue, and a new plan with enhanced budgetary allocation is underway.

With its expanded scope, the Ekamra project is expected to boost tourism, preserve heritage, and enhance amenities for devotees and visitors alike.
