Mining Department Raid: 100 Tons of Illegal Iron Ore Seized in Pidapokhari-Malangtoli Forest
Barbil : Acting on a tip-off about illegal iron ore smuggling, the Mining Department conducted a raid in the Pidapokhari-Malangtoli forest area, located along the Sundargarh–Keonjhar border under Joda Mining Circle.
During the operation, officials seized three trucks loaded with over 100 tons of iron ore, valued at approximately 5 lakh.
Authorities have detained four individuals, including truck drivers and helpers, for interrogation.
However, once again, the main mining mafia managed to evade capture, leaving the larger smuggling network intact and raising questions about the effectiveness of enforcement against organised illegal mining.
