Midnight Tragedy in Balasore: Couple Killed, Daughter Critical After Wall Collapse

Balasore,  — In a heartbreaking incident that has shaken the Mahadev Sarai village under Basta police station limits, a couple lost their lives and their daughter was critically injured when the wall of their home collapsed in the early hours of Monday.

The victims, identified as Pitha Murmu and his wife Lakhmi Murmu, were asleep alongside their 12-year-old daughter when the structure gave way.

Neighbours rushed to the scene and pulled the family from the debris, transporting them to Basta Hospital. Doctors pronounced the couple dead on arrival, while their daughter remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.

Local authorities have visited the site and pledged support to the grieving family.

Though the exact cause of the collapse is yet to be confirmed, preliminary speculation points to weakened infrastructure due to prolonged monsoon rains.
