Men’s Hockey Pro League Ignites Rourkela’s Passion

Rourkela, Odisha – The Men’s Hockey Pro League has officially begun at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, marking another milestone for India’s hockey heartland.

From February 10 to 15, 2026, three powerhouse teams — India, Argentina, and Belgium — will battle it out in front of passionate fans.

Local pride runs high as five players from Sundargarh district — Amit Rohidas, Amardeep Lakra, Roshan Kujur, Shilanand Lakra, and Nilam Sanjeep Xess — represent India, fueling excitement across the region.

Ahead of the matches, coaches and captains of the participating teams shared strategies and expectations at a press conference, underscoring the competitive spirit of the league.

The opening clash features Belgium vs Argentina at 7:30 PM today, setting the tone for a thrilling week of hockey.

Rourkela, which successfully hosted the 2023 Hockey World Cup matches, continues to cement its reputation as a global hockey destination.
