Mayurbhanj Villagers Kill Suspected Thief, Police Probe Underway

A shocking incident unfolded in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district when two men attempting theft were brutally attacked by villagers.

On Tuesday night, Bapi Bindhani and Kahnu Madhei from Deula village entered houses in Jaranata village under Khunta block and stole two LPG cylinders. As they tried to flee, villagers noticed the act, surrounded them, and assaulted them mercilessly.

Police rushed to the scene and rescued the duo, taking them to Udala Medical for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Bapi Bindhani succumbed to his injuries, while Kahnu Madhei remains under treatment.

Authorities have registered Case No. 441/25 and detained more than ten villagers for questioning. The investigation is ongoing to identify all participants in the mob attack.
