Mayurbhanj Vigilance Operation: Junior Engineer Caught Accepting ₹32,000 Bribe

Odisha Vigilance officials trapped Sushil Kumar Singh, a Junior Engineer in Badasahi Block of Mayurbhanj district, while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 32,000 from a Mate under the MGNREGA scheme.

The bribe was reportedly demanded to clear a road construction bill worth Rs 5 lakh.

The entire bribe amount was recovered from Singh’s possession.

Following the operation, searches were conducted at three locations linked to him, including his office and residence, to investigate disproportionate assets.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Baleshwar Vigilance Police Station.

Authorities emphasised that strict action will continue against officials indulging in corrupt practices, reinforcing the state’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
