Mayurbhanj Police Seize Huge Cache of Foreign Liquor, Over ₹6.6 Lakh Cash in Late-Night Raid
In a dramatic late-night operation, police in Mayurbhanj district uncovered a massive stockpile of foreign-made liquor and seized over Rs 6.6 lakh in cash.
Acting on intelligence inputs, officers raided a house in Teldihudi village under Udala police station limits.
The raid led to the arrest of Devendra Behera, who allegedly stored dozens of liquor bottles without authorisation.
Investigators also recovered Rs 6.6 lakh hidden inside a box, raising suspicions of illegal trade and smuggling.
Police sources confirmed that Behera is being interrogated to trace the source of the liquor and cash.
Authorities suspect links to wider smuggling networks and have not ruled out further arrests.
The seizure highlights ongoing efforts to curb illicit trade in Odisha, where enforcement agencies have intensified crackdowns ahead of festive and election seasons.
