Nuapada,  — In a sweeping crackdown on illegal liquor production, the Excise Department of Nuapada district conducted multiple raids across Komna block, seizing large quantities of country-made alcohol and arresting four individuals.

The operation, led by Inspectors Hirabati Thati and Suresh Chandra Tandi under the directive of Excise Superintendent Sanghamitra Pradhan, targeted villages notorious for illicit brewing.

In Thenga village, two separate raids resulted in the seizure of 9.6 and 10 litres of liquor and the arrest of Padma Majhi (55) and Tularam Majhi (45). In Biswanathpur, 15 litres were confiscated from Madan Majhi (26), while Dasarath Bhoi was apprehended with 20 litres in Kumutimunda.

A raid in Bharatpada also yielded illegal liquor, though the suspect managed to evade arrest. Officers from Khariar and Nuapada police stations, including Alekh Patel and Sachala Padhi, assisted in the operation.
