Marijuana Worth Rs 4 Crore Seized at Biju Patnaik Airport, Passenger Detained
Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: In a major breakthrough, officials of the Customs Department seized marijuana worth approximately Rs 4 crore at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Tuesday.
The contraband was detected during routine security checks in the baggage of a passenger attempting to clear the airport with illicit goods.
Acting on confidential inputs about possible narcotics movement, authorities intensified screening measures and intercepted the passenger carrying the marijuana.
The individual has been detained for questioning, though officials have not yet disclosed their identity.
Investigations are underway to trace the source of the narcotics and determine whether the seizure is linked to a larger trafficking network.
