Marathon Draws Hundreds to Celebrate Odisha’s Glorious Past

Bhubaneswar, Apr 5: As part of the ongoing “Odia Pakhya” celebrations, hundreds of enthusiastic citizens, including youth, cultural aficionados, and dignitaries, participated in a marathon on Saturday, organized by the Sports and Youth Services Department of the Odisha government.
Starting from the historic Khandagiri and concluding at Kalinga Studio Square, the event was infused with vibrant cultural performances, spirited participation, and a deep sense of cultural pride.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Odisha Sports & Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said, “We reaffirm our commitment to preserving and promoting our historical landmarks through this vibrant celebration.”
He further stated, “Odisha’s legacy of art, heritage, architecture, and tradition is not just our pride; it is a testimony to our glorious past and a guiding light for future generations.”
Speaking on the significance of the fifth day of Odia Pakhya, Suraj added that the marathon would not only promote fitness and unity but also serve as a moving tribute to Odisha’s timeless heritage.
Cultural performances, traditional Odia cuisine, and community bonding added color and liveliness to the event.
Participants enthusiastically shared selfies from the scenic Khandagiri location, uploading them to the official Odia Pakhya website as a celebration of the region’s cultural essence.
Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, senior politician Priyadarshi Mishra, Jagannath Pradhan, and renowned film actor Sabyasachi Mishra graced the occasion, adding to the event’s vibrancy. (UNI)
