Maoist Landmine Plot Foiled in Saranda Forest

Security forces averted a major tragedy in the Saranda forest region along the Odisha–Jharkhand border after detecting and defusing a powerful landmine planted by Maoists.

The incident occurred near Tontgadha village under Chotanagara police station when jawans, returning from an operation in Manoharpur, spotted a suspicious iron pipe by the roadside.

On closer inspection, it was found to contain explosives.

The road was immediately sealed, vehicular movement halted, and a bomb disposal team safely neutralised the device. Authorities confirmed that the landmine was intended to target security personnel.

Following the discovery, combing operations were intensified in nearby forests and suspected Maoist hideouts.

Officials praised the alertness of the forces, noting that their swift action prevented a potential disaster and safeguarded local residents.
