Bhubaneswar, July 7(OT Webdesk) — In a significant moment for Odisha’s political landscape, veteran BJP leader Manmohan Samal is set to be officially declared the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a historic fourth term.
The announcement, expected on July 8, follows his unopposed nomination under the party’s ongoing ‘Sangathan Parv-2024’ organisational drive.
The nomination proceedings took place at the BJP state headquarters in Bhubaneswar in the presence of Central Observer Sanjay Jaiswal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy CM Pravati Parida, and several top leaders.
With no other contenders, Samal’s continuity in leadership reflects the party’s confidence in his vision and ability to steer the BJP through Odisha’s evolving political terrain.
Samal, who previously served as state president from 1999–2004 and again since 2019, played a pivotal role in the BJP’s solo triumph in the 2024 state elections.
Despite losing his own Chandbali seat, he is credited with ending the party’s decades-long alliance with the BJD and leading the BJP to form the state government independently.
His fourth term signals a phase of consolidation for the BJP, with renewed focus on governance, public outreach, and preparing the ground for upcoming elections.
The official declaration is set for July 8 at 11 AM, following a procedural review of nominations.
