Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar Conducts Comprehensive Health Camp and Awareness Sessions for Balasore Media Professionals

Bhubaneswar: Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswarorganised a free health camp followed by a multi-speciality health awareness session in association with media professionals in Balasore, with participation from over 100 members of the media fraternity.

The initiative, held from 10 am to 3 pm, was aimed at addressing the specific health challenges faced by journalists and media personnel.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Amulya Das, ADMO, Balasore, who commended the hospital’s efforts in extending focused healthcare support to media professionals.

Smt. Sabita Sahoo, Chairperson, Balasore Municipality, attended as the Guest of Honour and appreciated the initiative, highlighting the importance of such collaborative health programmes for the media community.

As part of the event, a Media Privilege Card was launched for participating members, providing access to special healthcare benefits.

The health talks were conducted by specialists from Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, including Dr. Kishore Kumar Panda, Consultant Orthopaedics, who spoke on bone and joint care with a focus on hip replacement and hip preservation; Dr. Sachin Sekhar Biswal, Consultant Medical Oncology, who highlighted the increased cancer risk associated with tobacco consumption and emphasised the importance of regular health check-ups; Dr. Amlan Tapan Mohapatra, Consultant Neurology, who spoke on brain stroke and stressed the critical importance of the golden hour in improving outcomes through timely medical intervention; and Dr. Sadashiv Mishra, Sr Medical Officer, who was part of the health camp.

The sessions also underscored how irregular work schedules, high stress levels and limited access to timely medical care make media professionals more vulnerable to chronic health issues.

The programme concluded with an emphasis on preventive healthcare and the adoption of healthier lifestyle practices.
