Man Fatally Struck by Train While Crossing Tracks in Bolangir

Bolangir,  — A tragic railway accident claimed the life of a 52-year-old man near Kukudahad village under Kantabanji GRP jurisdiction late Monday night.

The deceased, identified as Ghanshyam Seth of Ashoknagar, Kantabanji, was reportedly attempting to cross the railway tracks when he was hit by a passing train near the 172/15–17 mile marker.

Locals discovered his body early Tuesday morning and immediately alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP).

GRP officials arrived at the scene, registered a case (46/2025), and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The body was sent to Kantabanji hospital for post-mortem, after which it was handed over to the family.

GRP officer Makaru Sahu confirmed that the probe is ongoing to determine whether negligence or other factors contributed to the fatal collision.

This incident has sparked renewed concerns over railway safety and pedestrian awareness in the region.
