Malkangiri Police Seize Ganja Worth Over ₹1 Crore, Arrest Two from Rajasthan

Malkangiri police achieved a major breakthrough in their fight against narcotics smuggling by intercepting a container truck near Nuaguda village under Orkel police limits.

Acting on a tip‑off, officers discovered a specially built chamber inside the vehicle containing 29 sacks of ganja, weighing 8 quintals and 70 kilograms.

The contraband, valued at over Rs 1 crore, was being transported from Andhra Pradesh to Rajasthan.

Two men from Rajasthan — driver Manoj Kumar of Churu district and helper Hemraj of Sikar district — were arrested on the spot.

The weighing and confiscation process was supervised by magistrate Prashant Kumar Bhatra at Orkel police station.

A case has been registered (Orkel PS Case No. 66/2026), and SI Ajit Singh Bariha has been tasked with probing the wider smuggling network.

Police officials emphasised that this operation highlights their commitment to dismantling organised drug trafficking routes across state borders.
