Malkangiri on High Alert: Govt Leaves Cancelled Amid IMD Warning
In anticipation of severe weather conditions forecasted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Malkangiri district administration has taken decisive action to ensure full emergency preparedness.
District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay has issued a directive cancelling all types of leave for government officials and employees until September 28.
The IMD has warned of a deep depression forming over the Bay of Bengal, likely to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to parts of Odisha. To maintain administrative readiness, the Collector has mandated that no official may leave headquarters without prior approval.
Even previously sanctioned leaves have been revoked.
The order underscores that any violation will result in strict disciplinary action.
This move is aimed at ensuring swift response capabilities in case of flooding, infrastructure damage, or other crisis scenarios triggered by the impending weather system.
The district’s proactive stance reflects a broader commitment to safeguarding public welfare during extreme weather events.
