Malkangiri: BSF Jawan Dies, Six Injured in Road Mishap
A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan lost his life and six others were critically injured in a devastating road accident near Chintoor, close to the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border.
The incident occurred when a private vehicle carrying seven BSF personnel collided head-on with a truck while en route to the 142 Battalion BSF camp in Balimela. The deceased has been identified as Havildar Gaurav Pandey, who was returning from Khammam, Andhra Pradesh, after a short break.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car was attempting to overtake on a remote stretch of road when it rammed into the truck. The impact crushed the front of the vehicle, trapping the passengers inside. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to Chintoor Hospital, where their condition remains critical.
Authorities from both Andhra Pradesh and Odisha have launched a joint investigation. Preliminary findings suggest poor visibility and reckless driving may have contributed to the crash.
