Major Crackdown: Barbil Police Seize Illegal LPG Cylinders

Barbil, Kendujhar: In a decisive move against illegal trade, Barbil Police launched a special operation targeting unauthorised LPG cylinder storage and distribution.

The raids, conducted at two separate locations, resulted in significant seizures and criminal cases.

Acting on reliable intelligence, police raided the residence of Mohammad Shamsher (49), where several 5-litre LPG cylinders were found stored illegally.

The cylinders were confiscated, and a case was registered under Barbil Police Station Case No. 122/2026.

In a parallel operation, police raided the shop of Om Prakash Gupta (65) in the busy Daily Market area. Illegal cylinders were recovered here as well, leading to Case No. 123/2026 being filed.

Authorities confirmed that the raids were carried out under the directives of the District Superintendent of Police.

The seized cylinders have been sealed as per legal procedure. Police emphasised that strict legal action will be taken against individuals involved in such unlawful activities.

Officials also warned that spreading rumours about shortages of LPG or other essential commodities will invite stern action.

Citizens have been urged to purchase only from authorised dealers to ensure safety and compliance.

This operation underscores Barbil Police’s firm commitment to curbing illegal trade and safeguarding public interest, sending a clear message that offenders and rumour-mongers will not be spared.
