Major Breakthrough in Keonjhar: Barbil Police Arrest Two in Jhadhgaon Murder Case, Iron Rod Seized
Keonjhar District, Odisha – Barbil Police achieved a significant breakthrough in a murder case that shook Jhadhgaon under the Barbil police station limits.
The incident, which occurred near Shankar Dhaba on November 5, 2025, was formally reported on December 29, 2025, at 9:00 PM by complainant Debanti Devi, wife of the deceased Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Kendua village, Barkatha police station, Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand. Based on her written complaint, Barbil PS Case No. 500/2025 was registered under Sections 238/103(1)/3(5) BNS.
Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Sub-Inspector T. Priyadarshini and the Barbil police team worked tirelessly to track down and apprehend the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shankar Prasad Mahato alias Shankar Kumar, son of Bimal Mahato, originally from Alonja village under Ichak PS, Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand, currently residing in Jhadhgaon, Barbil PS, Keonjhar district; and Mithun Munda, aged 35, son of late Krishan Munda, a resident of Jhadhgaon under Barbil PS, Keonjhar district.
During the operation, police recovered an iron rod produced by the accused Shankar Prasad Mahato.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of other suspects in the crime, as stated by Debendra Nath Pingua, SDPO, Barbil, in a press briefing.
This swift and determined action by Barbil Police has reinforced public confidence in law enforcement and strengthened the sense of security in the region.
