Bhubaneswar( OT Webdesk): The much-anticipated divine wedding of Lord Lingaraj and Goddess Gauri has been officially scheduled for May 30, as confirmed by the temple administration.
The ceremony, held at the revered Kedar Gauri Temple, is a major event in Odisha’s spiritual calendar.
Lord Lingaraj will leave the Lingaraj Temple in a grand ceremonial procession, accompanied by devotees, musicians, and sacred rituals. His return to the temple on May 31 will mark the completion of the traditional wedding rites.
The event coincides with the Sital Sasthi festival, celebrated with deep religious fervour.
Earlier, confusion arose due to differences in Hindu almanacks, leading to conflicting wedding dates. However, after astrological consultations, Khurda district officials finalised May 30 in accordance with the Khadiratna Panjika, widely followed in Puri.
The Kedaragauri Temple Committee, which had previously announced May 31, expressed disappointment over the sudden change.
Now that the date is confirmed, preparations are underway to ensure a grand celebration with spiritual significance and impeccable organisation.
Thousands of devotees are expected to participate in the procession and rituals, embracing the divine union.
