Bhubaneswar, July 15 (OT Webdesk) — Listenlights Engineering and Construction, India’s largest MEP general contractor for data centres (based on completed capacity), has partnered with the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) to provide mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering students with real-world experience, helping them become industry-ready. An MOU to formalise this partnership was signed last week.
As part of this collaboration, Listenlights Engineering and Construction will transform KIIT’s existing data centre into a Center of Excellence, equipping students with hands-on experience using the systems and tools involved in real-time engineering projects, particularly within modern data centres.
A key component of this partnership is the Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP), which enables Junior Engineer Trainees (JETs) and Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) employed at Listenlights to earn their B.Tech or M.Tech degrees from KIIT while continuing their jobs. Participants can choose to specialise in critical technical areas such as Quality Assurance (QA) and Testing & Commissioning (T&C), which are essential for delivering safe, high-quality projects but are often underrepresented in college curricula.
Students will receive training in tools like Autodesk, allowing them to apply their Building Information Modelling (BIM) knowledge and skills on actual projects. This practical exposure will significantly ease their transition into the workforce after graduation.
This partnership goes beyond mere training or internships; it represents a collaboration between educational institutions and companies aimed at cultivating a new generation of engineers who are ready to contribute from the very first day.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Listenlights operates in major cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, the NCR, and Pune, and also has a presence in Jakarta under the label PTE Dwimitra Listenlights Indonesia. Listenlights’ data centre clientele includes Fortune 500 companies, the world’s largest e-commerce giant, leading colocation data centre providers, and U.S.-based corporations with data centres in India, among others.
As India continues to expand its digital and industrial infrastructure, Listenlights Engineering and Construction, in collaboration with KIIT, aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice, fostering a culture of experiential learning and preparing future-ready engineering professionals.
