Lingaraj Jagar Yatra Preparations: Odisha Govt Reviews Safety Ahead of Maha Shivaratri

Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Lingaraj Jagar Yatra ahead of Maha Shivaratri, with the Odisha government holding a high-level review meeting to ensure the smooth conduct of rituals and the safety of devotees.

Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan chaired the meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, attended by officials from multiple departments, Nijog representatives, Sevayats, district administration, police, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Fire Services, and other agencies.

The Minister emphasised strict adherence to rituals up to the Mahadeepa and orderly darshan for devotees.

He directed departments to coordinate on parking, drinking water, sanitation, fire safety, crowd and traffic management, barricading, lighting, and decoration.

Special focus was placed on temple cleanliness, fragrance, shade, ventilation, CCTV monitoring, and media coverage.

Security arrangements will be tightened, with strict action against fake pass holders and unauthorised entry.

Highlighting the festival’s global significance, Harichandan said collective effort is essential to ensure a successful and safe celebration for devotees from across India and abroad.

The meeting was attended by Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, senior officials from the Law Department, Police, Khordha Collector, and other agencies.
